Graduate of the Faculty of Painting and Graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, lecturer at the Academy since 1992. He created and runs the Studio of Social Propaganda at the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. He cultivates a type of visual performance in which emotions as the overriding factor create a strong relationship with the viewer. He has shown his work at, among others, the Zachęta Gallery, the National Museum and the CCA in Warsaw, and most recently at the Nakanojo Biennale of Contemporary Art (Japan, 2015). Founder of the music formations Brain Chlupot and Meat Machine. He creates work that is all about emotion properly articulated, devoid of coyness. Between 1986 and 2018, he designed more than 500 posters for exhibitions, theatre performances and concerts. He also created graphic designs for albums by artists such as Leszek Możdzer, Bielizna, Apteka, Ego, Blenders, Ścianka, Centrala, Mordy, Kury, Łoskot. He created the Stations of the Cross at the request of the Camillian Order in Warsaw. Staniszewski is also known for his provocative works, such as the design for the Sopot city toilet at Monciak ¬- voices of indignation were directed at the vision of urinals in the shape of gorilla heads. The Sopot authorities abandoned the artist’s project, which, paradoxically, pleased him. Jacx is the author of numerous solo exhibitions, including: ‘Dread & Vision’ (State Art Gallery, Sopot,1994), ‘Wild Life – Wild Life’ (CSW, Warsaw, 1998), ‘Transcity’ (Rathaus, Kiel, 2002), ‘Resistance’ (Visual Voice ASP, Gdańsk, 2013), ‘Visual Performance’ (St. I. Witkiewicz Theatre, Zakopane, 2016), ‘Poster’ (Polish Poster Gallery, Wrocław, 2018). Repeatedly awarded and honoured (e.g. Grand Prix at the International Poster Biennale in Lublin, 2017; ZPAP Katowice Award at the Polish Poster Biennale in Katowice, 2017). His works can be found in the collections of the National Museum in Gdańsk or the State Art Gallery in Sopot, among others.
