Tomasz Florek – born in Rzeszów in 1991. Graduated from the Visual Arts Technical College in Rzeszów, majoring in metalwork. He studied graphic design at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Rzeszów. Currently lives in Krakow, where he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow at the Faculty of Sculpture and works in a tattoo and piercing studio. When designing and making tattoos, he draws on what he is passionate about in sculpture – structure and organicity. ‘Totemity’ – this is the title of his 2017 graduation work, inspired by the famous Svyatovid statue from Zbrucz. The artist devoted it to ancient and modern myths and paradigms of the hero. He chose Kościuszko Mound as the location for his defence because of the symbolism of the site, commemorating one of Poland’s greatest heroes. Florek has already had several solo and group exhibitions.
